VICTORIAN MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS : LORNE – SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2010 Print

WSLSC club members, Michael Owen, Rodney Owen, Mark Owen, Justin Houlihan, Reble Noter, Paul Clancey, Richard Keilar, Bob Collins, David Owen, Peter Cowling, Gary Askew, John McNeil, Stuart Titmus, Toby Pettigrew, and Xavier Thornton all ventured to Lorne last weekend to test their skills in the surf at the Victorian Master Lifesaving Championships. The sea was relatively flat which made for good even competition.
Congratulations to Michael, Rodney and Mark Owen along with Justin Houlihan who achieved great results in not only the double ski events but also in the single ski competition area.
Michael Owen 2nd Over 40's Single ski
Michael & Rodney Owen 1st in Over 40's double ski
Rodney Owen, Mark Owen & Justin Houlihan 1st in over 110 ski relay.
Paul Clancey 3rd in surf swim Over 40 years

The Warrnambool boat crew of Gary Askew, John McNeil, Toby Pettigrew, Stuart Titmus and Xavier Thornton rowed extremely well and were delighted to be in first position and the winner of a gold medal. Unfortunately the boat team were stripped of their gold medal in the 120s age class when the Jan Juc crew disputed the victory, due to a technical error on the WSLSC entry form. While this was very disappointing, the A reserve crew were able to regroup and claim victory at the Lorne Senior Beach Carnival the next day - Sunday 14th February - a fitting Valentine Day's gift!!!
