Working With Children Check

Lifesaving Victoria requires all members who are in contact with children, in the provision of a service or activity, to obtain a valid WWCC before joining a surf life saving club. This includes police and teachers who are normally regarded as exempt under the Act. The reason for this is that only organisations listed against a person’s WWCC are immediately notified of any convictions etc.

WWCCs are FREE for volunteers

How do I apply?

Complete the online WWCC application form at workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au using ‘Details for your WWCC‘ as shown below. Print the form and take it to a participating Post Office to lodge it with a passport size photo and ID documents.

All Members

All members 17+ require a WWCC before their membership can be accepted, (See exceptions to the right)

(17+ is to avoid patrol members and instructors from having to cease duties if they turn 18 mid season)

  • Honorary or Life members who are not involved in regular club activities

Existing Registrants

If you hold a WWCC with another volunteer organisation, you must update your details online at Update Your Details listing both Warrnamboool SLSC and Surf Life Saving Victoria as organisations that you are involved with (Details below).

It is not sufficient to tell us your WWCC number or send a photocopy of your WWCC card

You can  check and update your registration online at  workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au or via 1300 652 879

No Membership can be accepted without this requirement

Memberships cannot be accepted until the club has received the appropriate Notice of Assessment from the Department of Justice. This can take up to 60 days so please apply well in advance.
